![Organ Organ](https://vintagehammond.com/b3122color.jpg)
I inherited this old organ from my wife's grandfather a while back (nobody got made at me for taking it). It says Lowery on it, and Jenkins in another place. When it was still in his house (after his passing), I noticed that all of the G keys had a little green dot/sticker on them. I turned the organ on, and none of the G keys worked. So that I wouldn't cause stress on the family, I didn't mention it, and just loaded it up and brought it home.I played it a few times, but I honestly can't tell what half of the buttons are supposed to be doing.
I noticed a button for leslie, and pressed it, but it didn't sound too impressive, so I just figured it was an electronic simulation of sorts. More like a vibrato I guess. But the other day I was talking with my wife, and she gave the go-ahead to get rid of it (free on Craigslist). I thought before I do, I should see what type of speakers are in it.
Re: I need a pipe organ well I don't intend to master the dark art of organ building, but I can fix a leaking wind chest, or cracked and broken pipes. I'd have to insist that the instrument is all together- if I can see that, photograph and label it in place, I can probably take it apart, move it and put it back together. How to buy a digital organ In writing this article, at Viscount, we are trying to use our many years experience of digital organs to set out the major factors you should consider when choosing the supplier and instrument, whether this is for home practice, church or concert hall use.
So I just took the back off of it, and here's what I found:Yeah, that's a real mechanical leslie on the right side.:idea:And it's got two additional speakers. One is a 6 1/2' thing. And the other appears to be a CTS from 1963?.And the leslie looked promising.Until I took the back off of it.I don't know if there's a whole lot to be done with that.??? I couldn't tell how big the rotating drum is.Anyway. The main things:(a) How practical is it to try to have the G keys fixed? This thing is not too light, and I'd have to find someone who knows how to fix it, carry it to them, then pay them.
In the end, what do I end up with? A dorky little solid state organ?(b) It sounds decent.
Not inspiring, but not entirely silly (although some of the built in effects are indeed silly). If I wanted to use it for anything, I'd really need to figure out a pre-amp out for it, so that I could manipulate the signal however I want.(c) Is the speaker any thing that I need to hold on to, for guitar purposes?(d) Is it worth anything as it sits? Or.(f) Just put it on Craigslist, with the line 'Open to any interesting trades. With the exception of probably saving the 12' speaker, I'm pretty cool with just giving it to anyone who would come get it.
